The largest island in the Maldives, Gan has a huge land mass with endless greens and blues perfect for an explorer.

Gan has the ruins of what was once the biggest monastery complex in the Maldives, in addition to the ever so mysterious bodufengandu. Bodufengandu is a pond encroached by Kinbigas (Box Fruit Trees) and Randhoo (Red Mangrove). The area is home to Dhandifulhu Dhooni or White-tailed Tropicbird and Findhana (Common Sandpiper).

Goatha Miskiy area is historically significant in that it has the graves of Edhuru Umaru Maafaiy Kaleyfaanu, who was a famous scholar who lived in the area and Hassan Thaajuddeen’s Father Gamu Raiybe, who was also a scholar. 

With such a rich history there is so much you can experience in Gan from relaxing on white sandy beaches, snorkeling on our house reefs to joining a survival tour in the jungle.

Also known as Paree Fengandu (fairy pond), this pond is red in colour. Small leafed orange mangrove (kandoo) and loop root mangrove can be commonly found in this wetland.
