With the start of 2022, Maldives has launched homestay tourism opening up a completely different experience for tourists

The Raiymandhoo Mas Race is a fishing competition that was started in 2021 to celebrate Fisherman's Day and is planned to be held every year.

Fonadhoo is the capital of the atoll. The residents of Fonadhoo include the relocated population of Gaadhoo, who were brought to the island in 2016. Despite this, the community is very tight knit and the people are extremely hospitable,

Fonadhoo is connected to Gan, Kahdhoo and Maandhoo by a link road. There is one historical site in Fonadhoo and it might be the one historical site with the most information on it.

The largest island in the Maldives, Gan has a huge land mass with endless greens and blues perfect for an explorer. 

The island has beautiful white sandy beaches, one of the longest and beautiful beaches in the Maldives. The blue lagoon and huge reef system rich in marine life and coral gardens are something that tourists would keep discovering.

Gan has the ruins of what was once the biggest monastery complex in the Maldives, in addition to the ever so mysterious bodufengandu. Bodufengandu is a pond encroached by Kinbigas (Box Fruit Trees) and Randhoo (Red Mangrove). The area is home to Dhandifulhu Dhooni or White-tailed Tropicbird and Findhana (Common Sandpiper).

Goatha Miskiy area is historically significant in that it has the graves of Edhuru Umaru Maafaiy Kaleyfaanu, who was a famous scholar who lived in the area and Hassan Thaajuddeen’s Father Gamu Raiybe, who was also a scholar. 

With such a rich history there is so much you can experience in Gan from relaxing on white sandy beaches, snorkeling on our house reefs to joining a survival tour in the jungle.
