Faafu

Nilandhoo is the home for the vast blue lagoon of its own nature, accompanied by a huge reef system rich in marine fauna. Eagle rays can be easily spotted on our reefs. It’s a feed ground for eagle rays.  Surprisingly, dolphins are common mammals that passes the island every day.      

 Nilandhoo is the capital of Faafu Atoll, a region with five inhabited islands. It is the largest and most populated island in the region, and includes historical sites such as foah'mathi and Aasaari Miskiy,Abdulla Ismail Library and a school.

 Faafu Nilandhoo is located 140 km South from Male. In Nilandhoo there are 350 homesteads, Faafu Atoll education centre, bank, police station, fire station, atoll hospital, several cafes and local shops. On the island there is a small jungle and a beautiful paradise, unspoiled coastline on the south side. The house reef is very long, with many alive corals rich in turtles, sharks (black tip, white tip and nurse) and rays, lobsters and octopuses as well as unpopular species of reef fish. Don’t miss a snorkeling tour during your stay. 

 Almost on every possession grow big bread fruit tree, plenty of palm trees, the islanders grow bananas, watermelons, papaya, zucchini, pumpkins and cucumbers on the dedicated areas.
